What You’ll Do
A new and exciting opportunity commissioned due to impressive business growth and performance. In this newly created EMEA Strategic Finance Working Student position you can expect to work in a fast paced, hands-on finance role and will be required to partner with the EMEA strategic finance practice and the wider business alike to drive finance support.
You will also work closely with, and partner team members in the Accounting and other Corporate Services functions (People, Legal, IT, Business Development, etc.) within our fast-paced, high-growth firm.
The ideal candidate will be in the process of studying for a Finance or Economics Degree. You will work within our Germany, Switzerland & Austria (DACH) Strategic Finance Analyst team who support PMD (Partners & Managing Director)s and Partners and will enjoy the challenge of dealing with diverse issues and building your knowledge of our business and gaining valuable experience. You will be joining at an exciting time where we are integrating Berylls by Alix Partners into the global business. This role will be key to ensuring overall service delivery for the DACH team.
The Strategic Finance Working Student - EMEA is an interim 12 month role with potential to be extended, supported by hybrid working and located in our Munich office. The role reports to Strategic Finance Business Partner.
- Working within the DACH Strategic Finance (Project Controlling) team. The Analyst team (3) support our PMDs and Partners along the whole engagement lifecycle and they support a total of 84 PMDs and Partners with multiple projects running concurrently
- Ensuring we have a budget, Engagement letter and other key details from the outset of a new project
- Tracking hours and fees against budget and keeping the Supervising PMD/Partner updated
- Billing the client in line with our Engagement Letter
- Following up to ensure we are paid at the end of the project in line with our payment terms
- Providing support as required to the Strategic Finance (Project Controlling) DACH team in the following areas,
- Assisting on project opening requests to ensure we have information required to open new project codes
- Monitor Leads for potential new projects
- Checking budgets match signed Engagement letters and have been finalized
- Following up on unsigned engagement letters
- Requesting time transfers and processing narrative edits
- Following up on missing time
- Assisting with incoming Purchase orders from clients
- Diarising billing reminders in accordance with Engagement Letters
- Reviewing outstanding Accounts Receivable and highlighting overdue invoices and updating collection notes
- Review unallocated payments
- Monitor Microsoft Azure and other data costs in relation to projects
- Any ad hoc work as required
What You’ll Need
- Minimum studying for a Bachelor’s degree in business administration/business economics ideally with focus on accounting, finance, controlling or tax
- Previous working student experience
- Intermediate MS Office suite user (particularly Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and working proficiency in English
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- A continuous improvement mentality to support development of self, colleagues and business processes and interactions
- Attention to detail as well as an ability to see the bigger picture which considers any cross-business implications
- A collaborative team-player who is transparent and has a straight forward approach
- Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the business, over time, and find new ways to enhance the value brought to our firm.
